Acrobatics

Acrobatics focuses on building strength, flexibility, and agility through a fusion of dance and gymnastics. Students will learn foundational acrobatic skills while incorporating dynamic movements into choreography. This class is designed to enhance coordination, balance, and overall performance. Students in this class will perform an acrobatics piece in the annual dance recital. Register Now.

Ballet provides the technical foundation for all forms of dance through proper technique and terminology with emphasis on developing balance, coordination, flexibility, and strength. This class will consist of barre, center floor, and across the floor.  Students in this class will perform a ballet piece in the annual dance recital. Register Now.

Contemporary encourages freedom of expression and utilization of the entire body through quality movement with emphasis on coordination, flexibility, spatial awareness, and strength. Students in this class will perform a contemporary piece in the annual dance recital. Register Now.

Hip hop is upbeat and energetic, focusing on balance, coordination, individualization, and rhythm while using fun and popular music to learn age-appropriate movements and techniques. Students in this class will perform a hip hop piece in the annual dance recital. Register Now.

Jazz

Jazz is upbeat and energetic, focusing on balance, coordination, musicality, strength, stylization, and technique while using fun and popular music. Students in this class will perform a jazz piece in the annual dance recital. Register Now.

Pre-Pointe/Pointe

Pointe focuses on building the strength, technique, and alignment necessary for safe and successful pointe work.


Students must receive approval from the Ballet Director and complete a minimum of three months in a pre-pointe class before beginning pointe training. Proper evaluation ensures that every dancer is physically prepared to advance safely to this exciting stage of ballet. Register Now.

Sounds, Leaps, & Bounds (Acrobatics, Ballet, Creative Movement, & Tap)

Sounds, Leaps, & Bounds is a creative and collaborative class that introduces students to the fundamentals of dance through acrobatics, ballet, creative movement, and tap while emphasizing balance, coordination, and rhythmic skills. Students in this class will perform a ballet or tap piece in the annual dance recital. Register Now.

Tap is a fun and energetic class designed to develop rhythm, sound, and stylization with emphasis on producing clear tap sounds. Students in this class will perform a tap piece in the annual dance recital. Register Now.

Our competitive and performance teams offer an incredible opportunity to grow as a dancer and get more involved at The Dance Factor.

TDF Crew is our performance-based team open to dancers of all abilities, ages 5–18. Crew members share their love of dance through exciting performances across the Huntsville area and take the stage in both our fall and spring recitals.This is a fun way to gain performance experience, build confidence, and be part of a supportive and diverse team.


Requirements:


  • Must be enrolled in at least one weekly dance style at The Dance Factor
  • Enrollment in a second style is encouraged but not required
  • Attendance at all scheduled performance opportunities throughout the fall and spring seasons is required
  • Must be available to attend weekly rehearsals held on Fridays
  • Must be available for occasional additional rehearsals held on Saturdays or Sundays
  • Must be available to perform in both the fall and spring recitals
  • Must participate in the in-studio mock convention and competition (TDF Experience), held in the fall
  • Each TDF Crew member is required to participate in at least one TDF community volunteer event 
  • Optional opportunity to participate in conventions and competitions with TDF Company (not required)
  • Application required for consideration

TDF Company is our performance and competition-based team, open to dancers of all abilities ages 5–18. Company members share their love of dance through exciting performances, conventions, and competitions across Huntsville, the Southeast, and the Midwest. This team is perfect for dancers ready to take their training to the next level. It’s a rewarding opportunity that fosters confidence, discipline, teamwork, and plenty of fun along the way!


Requirements: 


  • Must be enrolled in at least four weekly dance styles at The Dance Factor: (1) Ballet, (2) Ballet – Advanced, (3) Jazz – Advanced, and (4) Foundations (Stretch & Technique)
  • Enrollment in other styles is encouraged but not required
  • Attendance at three scheduled conventions and competitions is required
  • Attendance at all scheduled performance opportunities throughout the fall and spring seasons is required
  • Must be available to attend weekly rehearsals held on Mondays through Fridays
  • Must be available for occasional additional rehearsals held on Saturdays or Sundays
  • Must be available to perform in both the fall and spring recitals
  • Must participate in the in-studio mock convention and competition (TDF Experience), held in the fall
  • Each TDF Company member is required to participate in at least one TDF community volunteer event 
  • Attendance at the national convention and competition held in the summer is optional
  • Audition required for consideration

Kathy's Grand Heart Foundation

Spreading the Love of Dance

The Dance Factor Kathy's Grand Heart Foundation, in partnership with Grandparents As Parents of Alabama, offers scholarships for dancers raised by those other than their parents.


Dance scholarships to cover up to 50% of tuition and free required dancewear, including leotards, tights, and shoes.
